On the second day of the teaching Practice,i reached the college at 9 am. I was assigned the 5 th hour. I began the 5 th unit of their course book. It was a short story named The happiness machine written by Ray Bradbury. I played a video as the entry activity. They listened very carefully and answered the questions that accompanied. I was able to follow the lesson plan efficiently. Though there was a bit of a commotion initially, i could manage them. With the help of chart, i asked them to complete a discourse given in the textbook. The students actively participated. i got a substitution hour during the 8 th period. Iresumed my class.
The international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking is observed every year on June 26. Drug abuse is one of the major problems faced in the country. A survey conducted among those below the age of 21 suggested that 40% of the drug addicts were below 18 years. Responding to the calls of the Kerala CM for united efforts to create a drug free world, school students in the state actively contributed their part for the significance of the day. GGHSS, Cotton hill also became a part of this mass movement. it is very important to sensitize the youth on the subject of drug abuse. it is therefore, inevitable to raise awareness about the problems in drug use and suggest ways to prevent the people from succumbing to it. School-level programs should be initiated to find the root cause.
